Phillip Hughes

Phillip Hughes was an Australian international Cricketer. He was a left-handed opening batsman. He played for New South Wales in the Sheffield Shield. Phillip Hughes played Australia International Cricket team from 2009 until his death in 2014.

Phillip Hughes was born in Macksville, New South Wales on 30 November 1988. He was born to a banana farmer Greg Hughes. His mother Virginia Hughes is from Italy. He played rugby along with cricket in his childhood. His cricket school soon got him a cricket contract. He got his rookie contract with New South Wales for the 2007-8 season. Phillip Hughes had a successful couple of seasons with New South Wales. In 2009 he replaced Matthew Hayden in the Australian line-up. He made his debut in the first test match against South Africa. Dale Steyn dismissed for a duck in the first innings. He highlighted the second innings with 75. In the second test Phillip Hughes scored centuries in both innings. Phillip Hughes became the youngest player to score two centuries in a test match. He showcase his talents for the very first time. His technique outside the stump was fantastic. He is a free scoring batsman. He struggled against England in the Ashes. After that he was used as only replacement to injured players. In 2013, he was included in the One Day Internationals against Sri-Lanka. Phillip Hughes scored 112 in his ODI debut. He became the first Australian to score a century in his ODI debut. He scored another century in the 5 match of that series. Since then he has played 25 One Day International matches. Phillip Hughes also played 26 test matches. He averages 32.65 in test and 35.91 in ODI. Phillip Hughes was eyeing for the 2015 ICC World Cup. Australian selectors had selected him because of Michael hussy’s retirement.

On November 25, 2014, Phillip Hughes was struck by a fast bouncer from Sean Abbott. He was on 63 not out at the time. He soon fell face first on the ground. Phillip Hughes was taken to the hospital. Phillip Hughes was placed in a induced coma until he passed away on 27 November. He passed away just three days before his 26th birthday. The international fixture between Pakistan and New Zealand was suspended for the day.
