Asafa Powell, CD is a Jamaican sprinter. He specialises in the 100 metres. He is best known for holding the title of “the fastest man alive” from 2005 to 2008. He held the 100 metres with times of 9.77 and 9.74 seconds.
Asafa Powell was born on born November 23, 1982 in Jamaica. He is youngest of six siblings. Sprinting runs in his family, his brother and mother being sprinters. has consistently broken the 10-second barrier in competition, with his personal best of 9.72 s being the fifth fastest time in the history of the event. As of October 2012, Powell has broken the ten-second barrier legally more times than anyone else – 94 times. He has won an Olympic Gold Medal in 4*100 m Relay in 2008.
Asafa Powell is deeply religious, citing his mother and father and his strict upbringing as the reason for this. His parents were ministers. He is good friend of the man who broke his world record: Usain Bolt.
