Tito Ortiz is an American mixed martial artist. In the MMA world, he is known for his stint with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He is a former Light Heavyweight Champion there. He along with Randy Couture and Chuck Liddelle was one of the sport’s early stars.
Tito Ortiz was born in Huntington Beach, California on 23 January 1975. His birth name is Jacob Christopher Ortiz. He lived in Huntington Beach until he moved to Santa Ana, California. Ortiz is of half-Mexican from his paternal side. His father is Sam Ortiz he gave him his nickname Tito. He had a difficult childhood as both of his parents were addicted to heroin. He was involved with gangs. He also used drugs like cocaine. He was placed in juvenile halls as a kid. His parents divorced when he was 13. He attended Huntington Beach High School where he wrestled. His mother kicked him out when he was 18. Paul Herrera encouraged him to continue wrestling and go to college.
Tito Ortiz’s MMA debut came in UFC 13. He was still in college and fought the match without contract or prize money. He lost a match ot Guy Mezger. But he avenged that loss soon after. He had a rivalry with Ken Shamrock. Tito Ortiz credits Bas Rutten as his inspiration. In 1999, he won the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. He lost the title to Randy Couture. Ortiz’s last fight on his contract with the UFC was a unanimous decision loss to the then undefeated Lyoto Machida at UFC 84 on May 24, 2008. On July 17, 2009, both Tito rtiz and Dana White stated that the pair had made amends and he re-signed. He co-starred in The Crow: Wicked Prayer. Following his loss to Griffin, Ortiz retired from MMA and started up a management company. He also fought for the promotion Bellator MMA. He was also part of TNA Wrestling as a member of Aces & Eights.
Tito Ortiz was married to his first wife Kristin for 5 years. He then had a relationship with Jenna Jameson. They had twins born to them. The couple is now separated. Tito Ortiz is currently dating Amber Nichole Miller.
