Milla Jovovich is an Ukrainian-born American actress and model. She has appeared in numerous science fiction and action films. Music channel VH1 to deemed her the “reigning queen of kick-butt” in 2006. He is best known for playing the lead protagonist in Resident Evil film series.
She was born as Militza Jovovich in 1975 in Kiev, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union. Her full name is Milica Bogdanovna Jovovich. In 1980, her family left the Soviet Union for political reasons. They moved to London then immigrated to Sacramento, California. They settled in Los Angeles seven months later. In school, she was teased by classmates for coming from the Soviet Union. Milla’s parents divorced soon after their arrival in Los Angeles. She has said she was rebellious during her early teens, engaging in drug use, shopping mall vandalism, and credit-card fraud. In 1994, she became naturalized as a U.S. citizen at the age of 19.
Milla Jovovich has been featured on more than 100 magazine covers, including all the major fashion magazines in the US. At age 15, she was cast as the lead as Lilli Hargrave in Return to the Blue Lagoon. She starred in the French science fiction action film The Fifth Element, alongside Bruce Willis. In 2002, she starred in the tion film Resident Evil. She played the role in all the sequels too. She also acted in movies like The Three Musketeers and Ultraviolet.
Milla Jovovich speaks Russian, English and little French. Her mother Galina Jovovich is also and actress. Milla lives with her husband, film writer and director Paul W. S. Anderson. The couple have two children together.
