Magic Johnson

Magic Johnson is an retired American Basketball player. He is one of the greatest player to ever play the game. He is best known for playing for Los Angeles Lakers. He was a member of the 1992 Olympics USA Dream Team. His career achievements include three NBA MVP Awards, nine NBA Finals appearances, twelve All-Star ames, and ten All-NBA First and Second Team nominations.

Magic Johnson was born on August 14, 1959 in Lansing, Michigan.

Magic Johnson is one of only seven players in history to win an NCAA Championship, an NBA Championship, and an Olympic Gold Medal. He was born as Earvin Johnson Jr. Johnson was first dubbed “Magic” as a 15-year-old sophomore playing for Everett High School.

Magic Johnson was drafted first overall in 1979 by the Los Angeles Lakers. Johnson said that what was “most amazing” about joining the Lakers was the chance to play alongside Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Johnson became the only rookie to win the NBA Finals MVP award. He also became one of four players to win NCAA and NBA championships in consecutive years. After a physical before the 1991–92 NBA season, Johnson discovered that he had tested positive for HIV. In a press conference held on November 7, 1991, Johnson made a public announcement that he would retire immediately. Johnson was chosen to compete in the 1992 Summer Olympics for the US basketball team, dubbed the “Dream Team” because of the NBA stars on the roster.
