Anya-Josephine Marie Taylor-Joy is a British-American actress best known for her captivating performances across film and television. She gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Beth Harmon in the acclaimed series “The Queen’s Gambit” (2020), earning accolades including the Trophée Chopard at the Cannes Film Festival and a nomination for the BAFTA Rising Star Award.

Born in Miami as the youngest of six children, Anya’s diverse heritage includes a Scottish father born in South America and a Spanish-English mother with roots in Zambia and Barcelona. Her upbringing traversed Argentina and England, where she attended schools such as Northlands School in Buenos Aires and Queen’s Gate School in London. Prior to her acting career, Anya pursued ballet and discovered her passion for acting after being offered a modeling opportunity.

Anya’s breakthrough came with her role as Thomasin in the period horror film “The Witch” (2015), which garnered acclaim at the Sundance Festival and showcased her exceptional talent.
