Steen’s considerable dramatic talent and potential is reinforced by a strong sense of humor that shines through in her work. As a teen, she started her career performing on stage in various contemporary stage productions and has been associated with the Royal Danish Theatre since 1997. Paprika Steen was born on 3 November 1964 in Frederiksberg, Denmark to musician and conductor Niels Jørgen Steen and actress Avi Sagild. Steen applied thirteen times to the Acting School of Odense Theatre before being accepted. However, since her success in the Dogme films, she has worked consistently and is one of the most highly regarded contemporary Danish actresses. Paprika made her directorial debut with the award-winning 2004 drama “Aftermath,” and followed with the 2007 comedy, “With Your Permission.
