Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton is an American politician who served as the 67th United States Secretary of State under President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2013.
Hillary Diane Rodham was born on October 26, 1947, at Edgewater Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She was raised in a United Methodist family, first in Chicago and then, from the age of three, in suburban Park Ridge, Illinois. Her father, Hugh Ellsworth Rodham (1911–1993), was of Welsh and English descent; he managed a successful small business in the textile industry. Her own childhood was very different. Her parents built a stable middle class life. Hillary attended public schools and was a Brownie and a Girl Scout.
Hillary Clinton graduated from Wellesley College and then went to Yale Law School, where she was one of just 27 women in her graduating class. Hillary met her husband Bill Clinton at law school. And on October 11, 1975, she married Bill in a small ceremony in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
