The Honky Tonk Man is an American professional wrestler. He is best known for his stint with WWE( formerly known as WWF). The Honky Tonk Man also wrestler for WCW.  He is known for his reign with the WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship for a record 64 weeks. He is cousin of WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “the king” Lawler.

The Honky Tonk Man was born as Roy Wayne Farris on January 25, 1953. He was born in Tennessee. He is a 1975 graduate from University of Memphis with a B.S. degree in Education.

The Honky Tonk Man began his career in Memphis Wrestling in 1978. He wrestled frequently in Birmingham, Alabama as “Dynamite” Wayne Farris. He entered the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1986 under the ring name Honky Tonk Man. On June 13, 1987 Honky defeated Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat for the WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship. He held the title a record 64 weeks. He lost his title to The Ultimate Warrior in the inaugral WWE Summerslam.  He is known for his gimmick of a musician. A persona which looked like Elvis Presley.

The Honky Tonk Man is married to Tammy since 1984. He has a daughter Megan and a son Roy. In his view, he considers the greatest WWE wrestlers of all time to be Ric Flair and Randy Savage alongside Hulk Hogan, all as equals
