Peter Dinklage was born on June 11, 1969 in New Jersey. He was born with achondroplasia, a common form of dwarfism. He grew up in Mendham Township, New Jersey.

In 2005, Peter Dinklage married Erica Schmidt, a theatre director. They have a daughter together. The couple live in Manhattan. He is a vegetarian.
