Lena Headey was born on October 3, 1973 in Hamilton, Bermuda. She is the daughter of Sue and John Headey. The family moved to England when she was five. They relocated to Shelley, West Yorkshire when Headey was eleven. As a child, she took ballet lessons for a time before being told to discontinue.
Lena Headey played a supporting role in Waterland. She landed a small role in The Remains of the Day, which came out in 1993 and received eight Academy Awards nominations. She co-starred with Matt Damon and Heath Ledger in The Brothers Grimm. She played the Queen of Sparta in 300 and reprised the role in 300: Rise of an Empire. She also played the evil villain ma-ma in Dredd. She portrays Queen Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones. She has been nominated for multiple Emmy awards for that role.
Lena Headey married musician Peter Loughran in May 2007. The couple have a son. They have since divorced. On 10 July 2015, she gave birth to her second child, a daughter.
