Jeremy Shu-How Lin is an American professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Lin was born in Los Angeles County in the city of Torrance. He was raised in a Christian family in the San Francisco Bay Area city of Palo Alto. In his senior year in 2005–2006, Lin captained Palo Alto High School to a 32–1 record and upset nationally ranked Mater Dei, 51–47, for the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Division II state title.
At the Portsmouth Invitational, Lin first met sports agent Roger Montgomery and later gave him a commitment. To their disappointment, no team chose Lin in the 2010 NBA draft. The NBA had not drafted an Ivy League player since Jerome Allen of Penn in the second round in 1995. The last Ivy League player to play in the NBA was Yale’s Chris Dudley in 2003, while the last Harvard player was Ed Smith in 1954. On July 7, 2016, Lin signed a multi-year contract with the Brooklyn Nets.
