Jennifer Carpenter is an American TV actress. She’s best known for her amazing acting in the famous Showtime drama series Dexter (2006-2013) as Debra Morgan. She also acted as an FBI officer in another CBS series Limitless.

Jennifer Carpenter’s full name is Jennifer Leann Carpenter. She was born on December 7, 1979, in Louisville, Kentucky. She is the daughter of Catherine and Robert Carpenter. Jennifer completed her study from St. Raphael the Archangel and then Sacred Heart Academy. She also trained at the Walden Theatre Conservatory program. After that, she trained at the New York City’s Juilliard School for some time. She appeared in the 2002 Broadway revival of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible starring Liam Neeson and Laura Linney before graduation.

Jennifer Carpenter’s big break was a 2005 movie called The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Moreover, she got the MTV Movie Award for ‘Best Frightened Performance’ for this movie. She also received a ‘Hollywood Life Breakthrough Award’. After that, she also awarded the ‘Breakout Performer’ at the 2006 Scream Awards.

Then in 2006, she got the role of Debra Morgan in the crime drama TV series named Dexter. She did so amazing work in this series that an Australian journalist Jack Marx described her portrayal of “cool and clumsy” Debra as “so perfect that many viewers appear to have mistaken the character’s flaws for the actor’s.”

After that, in 2011, she appeared in the off-Broadway play Gruesome Playground Injuries at Second Stage Theatre. She also worked in a drama series called The Good Wife as a guest. Then Jennifer worked in some other TV series like Sea of Fire. Then in 2015, She appeared in another CBS drama series Limitless playing the role of an FBI officer.

After acting in the TV series Dexter together, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall began dating in 2007. After a year of dating, they eloped on New Year’s Eve of 2008. But after only two years they filed for divorce. Then in December 2011, they divorced officially. But they remained very close friends.

Then in 2013, Jennifer Carpenter began to date Folk musician Seth Avett. They announced their engagement in 2015. She also had a son with him named Isaac. They married in May 2016.
