Jenna Dewan Tatum is an American actress and dancer. After starting her career as a backup dancer for Janet Jackson, she slowly made her way to the top. She is also known for her remarkable dancing and acting in the film Step Up(2006).

Early Life

Jenna Dewan‘s birth name is Jenna Lee Dewan. She was born on December 3, 1980, in Hartford, Connecticut, U.S.A. Her father is Darryll Dewan and her mother is Nancy Smith. She also has three siblings. Jenna had a rough childhood because of her parent’s divorce. She attended her high school at Notre Dame Preparatory School in Towson, Maryland. She worked as a cheerleader back then. After that, she moved to Grapevine High School in Grapevine, Texas. Then again, she went to the University of Southern California.


Jenna Dewan Tatum first appeared in Janet Jackson‘s “Doesn’t Really Matter” video. After that, she also works with other various artists as a dancer. Then finally, she got the chance to co-star in a musical dance film Step Up. In 2016, Dewan-Tatum modeled as the face of Danskin in a campaign and photo shoot that captured and featured her athleticism as a dancer.

After that, in 2011, she was cast in an NBC TV series The Playboy Club. In November 2011, Dewan starred in the film The Jerk Theory. Then, in 2015, she got the chance in another CBS superhero TV series Supergirl playing Lucy lane.

At first, Jenna dated Justin Timberlake and Shane West. After that, in 2005, she met actor Channing Tatum during the filming of the film Step Up. Soon after the ending of that films shooting, they began dating. They got engaged in 2008. After that, they married on July 11, 2009. They have a daughter named Everly Elizabeth Maiselle Tatum.
