Debbie Reynolds is an American actress, singer, and entertainer. She is mainly famous for her musical movies of the ’50s and 60’s such as Singin in the Rain(1952), The Unsinkable Moly Brown(1964), The Singing Nun(1966), Divorce American Style(1967) etc. She won Emmy and Golden Globe Award for her outstanding performance. Critics consider her as one of the greatest musical movie stars of all time.

Early Life

Debbie Reynolds was born on 1 April in 1932 in Texas, USA. Her father Raymonds Francis Reynolds was a carpenter. She went to Burbank High School in childhood. Once she won the prize of a beauty pageant in school. After that, she appeared in a little role in the movie June Bride in 1948 which was successful for her. She also appeared in the movie Three Little Words in 1949.

Day by day Debbie started to earn more success through her musicals. Two Weeks With Love(1950), Skirts Ahoy!(1952), Give a Girl Break(1953) and Hit The Deck(1955) made her one of the greatest musical stars. But the most successful musical of this star was Singin’ in the Rain(1957). Moreover, this film was one of the greatest success in the history of musicals. Gene Kelly and Donald O’Connor appeared as her co-stars in this film.

Debbie Reynolds appeared in some comedic and western films in the ’60s. Among them The Rat Race(1960), The Pleasure of His Company(1960), The Second Time Around(1961) and How the West Was Won(1962) earned great success. But she won more success and respect in 1964 as she appeared in the movie The Unsinkable Molly Brown. In this movie, she acted as a rich lady who survived the Titanic accident. She was an Academy Award nomination for this movie. Goodbye Charlie(1964), The Singing Nun(1966) and Divorce American Style(1967) was her next films.

Reynold’s later career was involved in stage performance and feature films. After that, she appeared in many films as supporting roles.

Debbie Reynolds married three times. As a matter of fact, her married life with first two husbands Eddie Fisher and Harry Karl were full of turmoil. After divorcing Harry Karl, she married Richard Hamlett who was a businessman. But things went worst and this couple was divorced too.

Debbie wrote her autobiography ‘Debbie: My Life’ in 1988 which won huge popularity. She got respect for being one of the greatest Hollywood musical stars.
