Bill Nighy is an English Actor. He is notable for portraying two of the most iconic villains in Modern cinema. He played Davy Jones in Pirates of the Caribbean. He also played Victor in Underworld series. He is also known for his role in Love Actually.
His mother, Catherine Josephine Nighy was a psychiatric nurse from Glasgow. His father Alfred Martin Nighy managed a car garage. Bill Nighy was brought up as a Roman Catholic.
He had a successful career in theatres before moving on to television. In 2003, Bill Nighy played the role of the Vampire Elder Viktor. The film starred Kate Beckinsale and Michael Sheen. He again plays the role in Underworld: Evolution and Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. But till today his most iconic roles is of Davy Jones. The immortal Captain of The Flying Dutchman. He played the role in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest and its Sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. The character was portrayed to have tentacles in place of beard. Bill Nighy was awarded the BAFTA Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role Billy Mack in Love Actually. In 2009, he played Rufus Scrimgeour in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1. He also played in Wrath of the Titans and the remake of Total Recall.
Personal life
Nighy had a 27-year-relationship with English actress Diana Quick. However they never got married. The couple have a daughter Mary Nighy. The couple separated in 2007. He is a supporter of Crystal Palace in the Barclays Premiere League.
