Ayub Bachchu mostly known as AB was a Bangladeshi musician. He was one the most influential figures in Bangladeshi rock music. With tremendous fan acceptance AB is famous for his fabulous guitar playing. Bachchu was best known as a founding member of the rock band L.R.B. (Love Runs Blind). He was initially a member of the band Feelings and later he joined the band Souls as lead guitarist.

Nevertheless, Ayub Bachchu has contributed heavily to the development of Bangladeshi Rock Music. He is popular equally as a Singer as well as a Guitarist and Composer. He is one of the greatest singers of all time in Bangladeshi history.

Ayub Bachchu is also known for his work on movies like Ammajan (1999), Bachelor (2004) and Wrong Number (2004).

Early Life

Ayub Bachchu was born in Chittagong on August 16, 1958. He grew up amidst turmoil in what was then East Pakistan and now is Bangladesh. His parents are Haji Mohammad Ishuque Chowdhury and Nurjahan Parvin. He was a student of Government Muslim High School in Chittagong.

Career

AB started his music career from his birthplace Chittagong with the band Feelings in 1978. Then he has joined the band Souls in 1980, one of the pioneers in the band movement of Bangladesh. From 1980 to 1990, he was a member of Souls as the lead guitarist.

In 1991, he formed his own band, LRB (the acronym originally came from Little River Band, but since another band already had that name, Bachchu changed it to Love Runs Blind). LRB released its first album as a double album, which contained hard rock songs like “Ghum Vanga Shohore“, “Madhobi” and “Hoker” ,” Sesh Cithi keno amon Cithi hoy” “Happy” and “Dhakar Sondha“.

In 1993, LRB released their album “Sukh“. It contained hard rock, blues, rock songs Like “Sukh” “Gotokal rate” “Khoniker Jonno” “Cholo Bodle Jai” Known as Sei tumi” “Haste Dekho Gaite Dekho” “Rupali Guitar” etc. ‘Cholo Bodle Jai‘ one of the greatest hits in Bangladeshi music era. written and tuned by Bachchu.

AB had a great gig with Richard At Legang (France), Remo Fernandez Nandon Bugchi & Bikmar Gosh of India, Azam Khan, Miles & Black of Bangladesh.

Bachchu collaborated with Radio Foorti to bring the new talents and fresh voices to spotlight by giving them the platform to perform and shine.

Personal Life

He got married to Ferdous Ayub Chandana. The couple has two children a son Fairuj and a daughter Tazwar.

Bachchu was admitted to the CCU of a hospital in Dhaka on 27 November 2012 for the accretion of water in his lungs. He recovered after receiving treatment.

Death

Ayub Bachchu died of cardiac failure at Square Hospital in Dhaka on 18th October 2018 at the age of 60.
