Ariel Winter is an American TV actress. She is also a singer. She is best known as Alex Dunphy in the TV series Modern Family. She is also the voice of Disney Junior show Sofia the First’s title character. She and her Modern Family casts have won 4 Screen Actors Guild Awards for Best Ensemble. They won in the comedy series category.

Ariel Winter was born in Los Angeles, California on January 28, 1998. She is the daughter of Chrisoula and Glenn Workman. She is sister to actress Shanelle Workman and actor Jimmy Workman.

Ariel Winter started in the industry at he mere age of 7. She had her first television role at age 7, in an episode of Listen Up!. She also worked in Tickle U, Freddie, Monk, Bones, and ER. In 2009, she landed a regular role in the hit sitcom Modern Family. She plays the quick witted Alex Dunphy. In 2012, Ariel Winter was cast as Sofia. Sofiya is the lead character in the Disney animated franchise Sofia the First.

Ariel now lives with his sister Shanelle. Shanelle has won the guardianship of her from their mother. On May 15, 2015, Winter declared on Twitter that she was officially emancipated. That means she being a minor has removed all ties with her parents.
